Frequently Asked Questions

APPOINTMENTS

Do I have to book an appointment or can I just come in?
We recommend that you book an appointment. Most weekdays are not very busy so we can accept walk-ins. However, if we have a lot of walk-ins at one time or if there are already people scheduled at that time, then we may ask you to wait until they are finished or come back another day. Saturdays are our busiest days so we definitely recommend that you book an appointment if you wish to come on a Saturday.

What if I can't make it for my appointment?
Please give us as much notice as possible. Your time is reserved for you, so letting us know that you cannot make it allows us to schedule someone else in that time slot or accept walk-ins. 24 hours notice is preferred, however, even if you cannot give us 24 hours notice, please still let us know. Any notice (even late notice) is better than none at all.

What if I will be late?

We appreciate a courtesy call if you will be more than 5-10 minutes late. Depending on how heavily booked we are and/or how close to closing time you arrive, we may have to reschedule or modify your session (i.e. by doing part of the session now and finishing it at a later date.) If you are very late and the people for the next appointment arrive before you, we may choose to start their session and you may have to wait an hour or more to begin yours. We do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs; however, if you are not on time for your session, it will likely affect how well we are able to serve you.

When can I book an appointment?

We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm each day. Our first appointment is at 10 am and our last appointment starts at 2 pm.

How far in advance should I book my appointment?

Weekdays are not very busy, but if you want a Saturday appointment, you should try to schedule it no later than Tuesday or Wednesday as it tends to fill up.

How many people can you do at one time? Can you do my spouse/child/friend at the same time as me?

We can normally do up to three people at once. If you have a large group, let us know when you schedule your appointment so that we can better accommodate you. Please be aware that it will take more time if you have more people and we may have to modify your session (i.e. we usually start with the beds, but some people may start with their feet first and do the beds after.)

What information do you need when I am scheduling my appointment?

We will need your first and last names, a phone number where we can reach you, whether you are returning or new, and if you’re new, how you heard about us. Also mention if there is anything else you think we should know (i.e. if there’s a specific health issue that you’re looking for relief from or if there are any special needs that we should know about).

Do I need to bring anything with me?

If this is your first time, you will have to fill out a form so bring reading glasses if you use them.

FACILITIES

Can I bring my child(ren) with me? Is there anything to keep them entertained?
Yes. We have a change table in the washroom, chairs in a separate room for mothers who wish to breastfeed in privacy, and a TV with a selection of kids' movies. However, we do not provide babysitting so if your child is too young and/or energetic to sit quietly while you have your treatment, you may wish to bring a babysitter or come alone.

Where do I park?
Park in the Food Basics' parking lot. Do not park by the Shoppers' Drug Mart as they have 30-minutes time limit which is enforced. Each session takes about 2 hours.

Is your facility wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The mall entrance is on ground level and there are elevators to take you up to the third floor. The washroom is wheelchair accessible, but does not have grab bars.

How do I get there on public transit?
If you are coming from Toronto, take the TTC to Finch Station. From there, take YRT bus route 2 to Bayview and John. For other routes, visit www.yrt.ca.

Do you sell nutritional supplements?

Yes. We offer nutritional supplements, most are from the company Flora (www.florahealth.com). We have many of their products in stock. If you would like something from them and we don't have it in stock, we can order it in for you.

Do you offer nutritional counselling?

Yes. See "Registered Holistic Nutritionist" on right.

Who is in charge of all of this and what are their credentials?
Carroll MacIntosh is the owner. She is a Certified Natural Health Professional. She is trained in iridology, nutrition, and is a certified reflexology teacher. Carroll and her husband, Robert, have been pastors for over 20 years.

MRS2000+

Is there anyone who shouldn't do it?

Yes. We do not recommend treatment for those with the following medical conditions:
- epilepsy,
- pregnant, or
- electronic implants (I.e. pacemaker).

MIGUN THERMAL MASSAGE BED

Is there anyone who shouldn't do it?

Yes. We do not recommend treatment for those with the following medical conditions:
- multiple open sores,
- fractures or suspected fractures,
- heat or exercise allergy,
- surgery on spine or hips (on a case-by-case basis), or
- weight over 300 lbs (weight limit of bed).

Does it hurt?
It can sometimes be uncomfortable the first couple of times. It is a deep massage which breaks up calcium deposits and muscle adhesions. It is best to try to relax and breathe through the pressure. If it is too much pressure, we can add padding to the bed. After a couple of sessions on the bed, many people find it so relaxing that they fall asleep on it.

SPINAL EXERCISER

Is there anyone who shouldn't do it?
Yes. We do not recommend treatment for those with the following medical conditions:
- ankle or foot problems (on a case-by-case basis),
- fractures or suspected fractures,
- vertigo or dizziness.

Does it hurt?
No. It is not supposed to hurt at all. If it does, then you may have an undiagnosed ankle or foot problem, in which case we will skip the Spinal Exerciser and give you double time on the Migun instead.

IONIC S.P.A.

Is there anyone who shouldn't do it?

Yes. We do not recommend treatment for those with the following medical conditions:
- currently undergoing chemotherapy (radiation is okay),
- fractures or suspected fractures,
- hemophiliac,
- metallic or porcelain implants (except for titanium).
- organ transplant recipient,
- have a pacemaker,
- taking medication to thin blood (i.e. Coumadin.). Low-dose Aspirin is okay.

What is the age limit on this process?
None, however we don't recommend it from about age 9 months to 4 or 5 years of age, simply due to their difficulty with sitting still with their feet in the water for a half-hour. For special cases, we can put on a movie to entertain the child and see if they are able to sit still. For babies, you will need to bring something that they can "stand" in, like an exersaucer or you can purchase a Phut-C and take it home to use it with them in the bathtub.

Can I bring in my pet for treatment?
No. It can be done, but we don't have the facilities for it here. You can purchase a Phut-C to use at home if you wish to use it for your pet.

I have limited or no mobility. Can you come to my house to give me a treatment?
Sorry, we cannot do this. However, our building is wheelchair accessible, or you can purchase a Phut-C to take home for your own personal use.

Does it hurt?
No. You might feel tingling or itchiness.

Is this a mud bath treatment?
No. What you see in the pictures is the result of toxins being pulled from the body.

What do you add to the water to get it to turn all those colours?
Nothing. We use straight tap water and add an ion generator to the water.

What colour does the water turn if there are no feet in the bucket?
The water turns a light yellow/orange colour due to the impurities in tap water.

Have you ever tried using distilled water?
Yes. It makes no difference in the end results of the Ionic S.P.A..

What do the colours in the water mean?
See the sidebar on the right to learn about what the colours in the water mean.

How many sessions does it take until the water stays clear?

The water will never be completely clear.  It will always turn a light yellow colour due to the impurities in tap water. How many sessions it takes until it stays light yellow (no toxins coming out of your body) depends on the individual person. Most people continue to build up toxins through their daily activities so, in our experience, there is always some toxins coming out.

Will I benefit from only one treatment (or do I have to do a whole lot to see improvement)?

Yes! Many people notice a difference in their symptoms after only one treatment. You do not HAVE to do a lot of treatments in order for it to be beneficial. Of course, the more you do, the more effect you should see, however, even one can be helpful.

Why use the feet? Why not another body part, like the hands? Can I use it in a bathtub?
The feet work well because they have a lot of pores which allow the toxins to come out. They're also the most convenient as you can sit comfortably in a chair during the process. We do sometimes do the hands, especially for people with rashes on their hands or arthritis. We do not have a bathtub in our facility, but you can purchase a Phut-C to take home and use in your own bathtub.

Do I need to wear anything special, or take my clothes off?
We will need to have access to your feet. If you wear pantyhose, we have a washroom where you can remove it. You will want to remove heavy coats or sweaters while on the bed, and may wish to remove your belt as well. You do not have to remove any other clothing.

Do I have to remove my nail polish, toe rings, or ankle bracelets?
You will have to remove anything metal that will be in contact with the water as the Ionic S.P.A. is designed to attract heavy metals and could damage your jewellery. Nail polish can be left on, but the Ionic S.P.A. may remove it if it has a high metal content (i.e. some dollar store nail polishes).

How do toxins get into my body?
Toxins come from a variety of sources including: alcohol, chlorine in swimming pools, cleaning supplies, dental procedures (i.e. mercury fillings), gasoline, hair dye, medications, tobacco products (either first or secondhand exposure), vaccinations, and even in the air we breathe and the foods we eat and drink.

Will my body reabsorb the toxins if my feet stay in the water for too long?
No. We have done sessions with the feet in the water for up to 3 hours and the water continues to get more grungy over time, which means the toxins are continuing to come out and are not going back in. A normal session is only 30 minutes, so far too short for any concern of the toxins reentering your body.

If I have a treatment, does that mean that I can't drink alcohol, smoke, party, etc., anymore?
The Ionic S.P.A. will pull the toxins out, but it is your personal decision whether you put them back in or not. Refraining from smoking or consuming excessive alcohol is certainly beneficial to your health, but not necessary in order to use an Ionic S.P.A. .

Do I need to do a number of treatments to see any results or will I see results after the first treatment? What is the recommended number of treatments?
We guarantee you will see results. We all live in a polluted world and we all have toxins in our bodies. The average person takes about 7-10 Ionic S.P.A. sessions before they start to notice that the water is fairly clean. Those who have had high levels of exposure to toxins will need many more. There is no minimum number of treatments, however. Even just one treatment is beneficial.

If I don't see any results, will you refund my money?
Yes. If your water shows no change other than the slight yellow/orange from the impurities in the tap water, we will refund your money.
